Small Business Advocacy

When it comes to supporting small business, COSE’s Advocacy Committee goes the distance.

I have enjoyed the past 1.5 years serving on this committee responsible for understanding, discussing, and taking action on legislative and regulatory issues on behalf of COSE’s members.

I have been given the opportunity to learn about proposed legislation and provide feedback on the possible effects on small businesses to help direct lawmakers. Very rewarding. I have learned and provided feedback on items such as the Governor’s recent Tax proposal to the legalization of marijuana.

Several campaign initiatives are collecting signatures to legalize marijuana in Ohio. One group’s efforts, ResponsibleOhio, may be scheduled for the November ballot. There are many small business implications to consider including marijuana use by employees or use in the workplace. This is an interesting topic that will become even more interesting as November approaches.
